Our ObjectivesOverview
Drummoyne
Water Polo Club continues to focus on developing the juniors who are the
future of this great club. It is incumbent upon us to ensure that we
provide an appropriate entry level as well an opportunity for talented
juniors to move through the club ranks as it is to provide players the
opportunity to experience the unique culture that is known as Drummoyne
Water Polo. The objectives for Drummoyne Junior Development Program are: 1. Hold a junior girls and boys water polo camp in October school holidays at Drummoyne pool; 2. Hold a sub junior program at Drummoyne Pool for girls and boys 10 –13 years of age starting November; 3. Encourage all players to complete at least 2 swim squad sessions per week; 4. Continue to improve standard of water polo for girls and boys through their introduction to the women’s and girls training program; 5. Enter teams in NSW and Australian age group club Championships; 6. Have a succession plan in place that will accommodate potential elite players developed in our junior girls and boys; and 7. Continue to raise the profile of water polo as a sport at schools and in the community in the local and surrounding municipalities. Elite Player Pathway The club is committed to developing our junior ranks and to assist this process we have appointed former Yugoslavian International Dalibor Maslan as the Men’s Head Coach and former NSW Junior coach Dave Hudson as Women’s Head Coach. The club has also attracted a number of Australian, National League and 1st Grade players who will play in the women’s and men’s senior teams and assist with the development of our promising junior boys and girls. With teams entered in the all Men's and Ladies 1st and 2nd Division competitions Drummoyne can provide talented junior players the opportunity to play at a level where they will continue to develop their skills playing and training alongside experienced players and coaches who will assist their development as they move through the senior ranks. Players that are capable of playing 1st Grade or National League will be provided with the opportunity to compete at this level and continue to play with Drummoyne. Drummoyne have applied to play in the 2008 Men's National League and will provide a pathway for our girls prior to our own girls National League team in 2009 or 2110. |
